Description

First aid courses are important not only for workers in certain fields but also as a duty for each of us to know and be able to provide first aid to a victim. The aim of the courses is to teach individuals to assess the vital functions of the victim and provide timely first aid. First aid courses are conducted according to the mandatory first aid training program approved by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Lithuania. Upon completion of the courses and passing the exam, a first aid certificate in the prescribed form is issued.

First aid courses are mandatory for employees who start working and later must attend refresher first aid courses every 5 years:

  • employees of educational institutions (conducting formal and/or non-formal education for individuals under 18):
  • teachers,
  • teacher assistants,
  • social workers,
  • social educators,
  • individual care staff;
  • cleaners;

employees working in adult residential facilities or other social care institutions
:

  • social workers,
  • individual care staff;
  • employees of service providers (manufacturing cosmetics, beauty, solarium, sports clubs, accommodation, children’s playrooms), employees of companies, institutions, and organizations responsible for providing first aid in the company (institution, organization),
  • all individuals with permits to possess or carry weapons, accommodation service employees directly involved in customer service, who can directly influence the health of service users,
    employees whose activities involve toxic substances,
  • drivers of all motor vehicles, except categories AM, A1, A2, A, B1, B, BE, their combinations with trailers, tractors, self-propelled machines,
  • railway, air, and water transport vehicles,
  • employees managing communication facilities,
  • road maintenance workers,
  • drivers of motor vehicles in categories AM, A1, A2, A, B1, B, and BE,
  • passenger transport employees serving passengers (conductors, stewards, train attendants, and other employees).

NOTE: Employees of correctional facilities and police detention centers are required to attend mandatory first aid courses only before starting work.

The duration of first aid skills courses depends on the field of work. Therefore, the training can range from 6 to 40 hours.
